First Steps

The first steps a child takes
is a memory us parents will treasure
as we watch it happen
our hearts fill with pure pleasure

The first steps last only a second
till our baby shakes and falls
before we know it, confidence grips
and their driving us up the walls

Then first steps through the school gate
the only worry is colouring in
us parents stood mascara eyed
while the kids take it on the chin

The first steps into high school
brings mood swings and hormone change
no longer are they babies
we are not even in their range.

Then the first steps to the
world so big and wide
It was a hell of a journey
but well worth the ride

The first steps your baby takes
please cherish with all your mite
Time goes far to quickly
till no more kisses goodnight
