Flames

Would it be better to go up in flames?

The sharp words from a poisonous tongue

The bruises left on the heart like permanant scars

How can one kiss sear itself so deeply into the soul

The next, punture so deeply you can not breathe

Would it be better to go up in flames?

For a moment of bitter agony

Than a period of time of disappointed hopes

The heart molested

Touched so sweetly by affection

Only to be roughly ripped apart by fear

The body and soul

Burning in the flames of rejection.

I feel such a connection to this piece, love how you used " poisonous tongue " as a beautiful way of describing how someone's words can be toxic. It's really moving and I can clearly understand the emotional pain of rejection between a lover I assume.

Thank you so much for your comment! And yes he was a lover hence the rejection lol. He is now my best friend and this rises a lot of complications. But I’m a introvert lol and he’s my only friend that I see regularly.

Hello, Amiee,
Here are my views on love and all things related to romance...

Time does not bring relief; you all have lied
I want her at the shrinking of the tide;
I miss her in the weeping of the rain;
Who told me time would ease me of my pain?
.......
Old snow melts from every mountain-side,
And last year’s leaves are smoke in every lane;
But last year’s bitter loving must remain
Heaped on my heart, and my old thoughts abide.
.......
There are a hundred places where I fear
To go,—so with her memory they brim.
And entering with relief some quiet place
Where never fell her foot or shone her face
.......
I say, “There is no memory of her here!”
Yet stand stricken, remembering her dear.

Love brings nothing but more heartache and pain.

Oh i love it! ^.^ very moving!

I’m a romantic and I believe in soul mates but I don’t think someone who says they love you would reject you so many times as he has me. So, in all honesty, was he my soul mate? Possibly not. But like they say- love is never easy

I think the questions posed poetically here..... are worthy questions indeed..... and I believe one doesn't find answers unless one tests the waters first....... and certainly these questions are not even asked unless the idea of Love's potential did not hold some attraction in the first place......I also don't believe that true Love plays out well, in the long run, without some pain or hurt..... just as with any other experience in life one must accept that nothing in this life is perfect!!......I REALLY like the way this piece is formatted.... it brings a fine sense of the poetic to what would normally be a series of most difficult questions!!.......ALL STARS!!..... well done dear poet sister....... and......
