Flip of a coin

The copper coin was flipped
And with that, a direction chosen
And the direction was true
So it was, one foot followed the other, To lose the madness and find a stitch or two, for that part of me eternal
For a time able to follow the iron horse, as it coursed along the side by side steel that was my compass
I happened upon turquoise waters that minded me of the fluidity of life, the lapping of their gentle ripples upon the stone covered shore, as if the beating inside me, causing the lifeblood to pulse
I wandered some lonesome roads winding with hard and supple curves, caressing them in a manner befitting, as I raced the sun to world's end
Granite jagged peaks off in the distance, wending through a lavender lined path, sentinels of fir and spruce, hemlock and red cedar that stood strong and tall, minding me of what's possible
I glided through wooded canopy on the island of Victoria, led by forest pixies with mirth upon upturned lips, and a mischievous glint in their shiny eyes
Back south now bound, down through the heart of the Hoh, and then the coastline to guide me, meeting all manner of folk as I go, those far from home, some with no home, some just livin on the wind and playing their songs on six strings
Returned now, not to where the journey ends, but to where it will soon begin again, a pocket full of stones and more memories for my cedar chest
