Footsteps

Footsteps

Out of the dark, footsteps along the passage floor.

A evil linger in front of door, creeping closer with the coldness of the night.

Heavy breathing followed by unwanted hands searching for what don't belong to them.

Another night taken from me, another piece of my soul last forever.

After all this time, I fear the footsteps will come once more to steal away my joy.

Even though you gone I have not grown up nor have I overcome the fear of the nights stolen.

It took a while for me to learn to turn anger into wisdom and my voice became courage, which transformed it into a sword of justice.

Together with arms of strength I will slay the legs that bring the footsteps of pain.

Besides….real men stand, snakes crawl.

A sad sentiment Carmen!  Great end lines:

Together with arms of strength I will slay the legs that bring the footsteps of pain.

Besides….real men stand, snakes crawl.

Nice write!
