For You
Ripped my heart out
For you
Filled your head with doubt
For you
Let you hate me and berate me
For you
Dying inside
In the place where I hide
All truth denied
Pretending I never tried
Dying inside
For you
But you must never know
What I have done for you
I must keep up the show
Let your reasons seem true
This is the only thing I have left
To give to you
The only way I can make you let go
And soften the blow
Because I have come to know
That you must let me go
But you must never know
You must never know
You must not suspect
Or find a single clue
You must never know
What I have done for you

Hello TWILLA!!......What a powerful poem...... the way used repetition as your main poetic device here, works BEAUTIFULLY....... and the 'subject matter' ~ wow ~ the idea of doing something amazing for another person and keeping it hidden from them is the verify definition of "Kindness" in all of its forms!!...... Call it Love, selflessness, Good, The best of humanity etc...... It ALL still comes down to the purity and naivete' coursing through the veins of 'Kindness"... the idea itself dates back hundreds of years........Inspiring countless books and films....... the one thing they all have in common is that in the end .....the secret always comes out ~ no mattered how long it takes, it eventually comes to light.... Anyway, I'm sorry for rambling on here..but I found your poem VERY inspiring....... Thank you so much for sharing this.... you've done an excellent job.......ALL STARS!!...... Beautifully penned TWILLA!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!........T xo : )
Thank you so much, Tony! Please ramble all you like! Your comments are as well written and enjoyable as everything you write! I appreciate every word of this one particularly. Its helped more than you could probably imagine. I have a lot to think about. Truth does always come to light eventually, but sometimes a secret only needs to be kept for a little while to serve its purpose and once its done so, well, it may not matter so much when its reviled. The thought of a secret such as this being destined to see the light one day and bring a bit of peace with it, lighten its keepers burden, is extremely comforting. Thank You So Much Tony!
Powerhouse write Twilla. :) I feel this. Have used the concept in my life, but you write it so well and with passion. Well done girl.Â
Blessings,
Rebecca
Thank You Rebecca!
Some of us have suffered enough to be able to do what we never thought we could. Especially Mothers. A mother usually handles a small child getting shots or even stitches calmly so the child is calm, and knows just what to do, but many fathers will cry or have to leave the room because the child sees that theh are upset and assumes there is a good reason to be afraid. Once you learn to do that sort of thing, well, then its a lot easier to take on what would be the sorrow of someone who cant hadle it so well. My heart really is in this one even more than most. Thank you again.
