Forever Vulnerable

Like a child in the dark
Like a dog with no bark
Like a never ending night
Like a bird without flight
Like a mind inside a vault
Like all the ones at fault
I go to the wrong places
Looking for the right thing
Always meeting the same faces
You’re not there to greet me, gal
You’re forever vulnerable
Like a black eyed woman
Like forty-five in Japan
Like a cloud without a sky
A human with nothing to buy
Like a soldier with a spear
An elephant with no ears
I go to the wrong places
Looking for the right thing
Always meeting the same faces
You’re not there to greet me, gal
You’re forever vulnerable
Like a tree with no soil
Like a country with oil
A body without sleep
Like a herd of sheep
Like a kid in school
Like a working fool
A car with no wheels
Like someone who feels
Like a wingless plane
Like a ball and chain
Like a wedding ring
A guitar with one string
I go to the wrong places
Looking for the right thing
Always meeting the same faces
You’re not there to greet me, gal
You’re forever vulnerable

Enjoyed the read. Very well versed x
Thanks Pratibha. Appreciate your Feedback as always. I’m happy you enjoyed it x
I like this! It reads fast and flows well. The refrain leaves the reader digging a little deeper and in doing so, is rewarded with that extra bit of emotion that welds this whole poem into place x
Thanks Christina. I have a hard time writing about love. It takes a lot of energy and isn’t my strong point. I appreciate your support always!Â
Reads like a rock song, great poetry Ezrarimbaud.
Most of my stuff is lyrics tbh Gerard I’m not a poet in the standard sense. Appreciate you giving me the feedback. Look forward to more poetry from you.Â
Excellent Ezra, sounds familiar, not the poem per say, but what it says...
