Poem -

Forgive Some, Forgive None

But Not All

I’ve always been told “you must forgive all”!

Well I have tried real hard, but I just can’t.

What it is I believe, well that’s for myself.

I’m no God, nor do I claim to be either.

To each their own, I’ll forgive who I can.

To those who I can’t forgive, I’m not sorry.

You hurt me, pain so bad, I cannot forget.

The majority of my life, I took others advice.

I still listen and most of the time I hear.

But, it is only I that makes my own decisions.

Certain people shouldn’t have to forgive me either.

Although I carry remorse and great regret.

There’s no beauty that can hide my past ugly.

Nor do I want it to, I must remember myself.

Otherwise I might not recognize the threats.

My apologies cannot undo their pain.

Their forgiveness cannot erase mine.

For ourselves me must want the change.

To each their own…to myself, mine.
