Fractured Faerie Tales

There’s something lurking in the attic
but mom and dad just won’t believe.
My hairs stand up, besieged by static;
why must adults be so naïve?
There’s something evil in my closet;
I’m told it’s all just in my head.
But I know better, see, because it
says it wants my family dead.
Imagination’s not the culprit,
nor overactive, nightmare scares.
They took my dog; the creatures gulped it
and now I’m met with hungry stares.
Deep in the darkness that surrounds me
they bide their time, just lie in wait.
Yet no one else believes—can’t they see?
that soon it all will be too late.
I heard them screaming in their bedroom;
now I’ll bet they wished they’d listened.
In moonlight’s glow, I saw in the gloom
the bloodied blade in my hand glistened.

Well done, you should be sending them to horror magazine's for publication, much love Deano ?
Hey, deano.
So nice to hear from you and I do appreciate your kind comments.
I've been published in Penthouse Magazine (1989), Playboy (1995), Rod Serling's Twilight Zone Magazine (1882 and '85, respectively), written a screenplay for Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories television show (1985, Season One, Episode #4, Mummy Daddy) on NBC, and have several books of haiku and dark poetry in print, all available on Amazon.com.
I've had poetry published in the anthologies Till Shadows have Eaten the Moon, by M.B. Leibowski, and prose in Tales of Horror on Halloween Night, a collection of short horror fiction published by Sami Sands, famed author of the AM13 Outbreak series, which has been published by Limitless Publishing in the UK. She has also had a number of short stories published in some very successful anthologies.

oh wow this was lovely. so tell me did the you in this piece kill the monster? or was it you the real monster? since the bloody knife was in your hand....am i the only one who is uncertain and dying to know ?
Yes, Sarah, the child in the poem went completely insane and became the very monster he/she was afraid of.
Then they murdered their parents for not listening to what they were trying to say.
I hope that helps.
Thanks so much for reading~
