Francis the Little Field Mouse

Francis the Little Field Mouse

Outside, the wind is blowing a hooly,in his burrow,he's nice and snug

Wrapped up in his Iris flower bed sheets,he's snug as a bug in a rug

His daddy is braving bad weather,to gather grain for their breakfast to have

Then mummy will make him oat biscuits for school so his tummy won't feel empty and bad

Mummy shouts Francis at 7:30 am,plenty of time for the slow coach to rise

Francis gives a big yawn and a twitch of his nose, and slowly opens his eyes

His slippers at the side of his bed, ready for his little feet to slide in

Then it's off to the bathroom for his face to wash, and he cleans his teeth, with a grin

Carefully does it down the stairs, ready for his wholesome breakfast

The best start to anyone's day,it helps the day go by so fast

His uniform on,his bag in hand, and it's off to school he goes

He's the happiest mouse for many a mile, from his head down to his toes

His walk to school isn't so long,it passes by some houses and trees

Some friends, they join him on his short walk to school, their fur swishes in the breeze

His best friends Morris the Mouse and Harry the Hedge Hog accompany him along the way

Friends from the day that they were born and good friends they will stay

It's not often you see one without the other,or they're never too far apart

On their way to school,it's time for hide and seek, and to count,it's always Francis who starts

Morris the Mouse is usually the first to be found, cos he can't control his giggles

But Harry is the cunning one,the best at this game, for under the leaves,he wriggles

When Harry is found, they leg it to school, cos they don't want to get done

Or else it's letters back home to tell of their lateness to their dads and mum

But on this day, they make it in time, just for the first bell to ring

And stroll into school with a crafty grin,it's called, that confidence thing

As their names are called for the daily register, here miss,is their reply

So happy to hear that they're there on time, with a woohoo, she punches the sky

Francis likes to draw,he has an artistic flare

Harry likes his history, fossils and dinosaurs and things that are rare

Morris is the gymnast,he likes to tumble around

Doing handstands and cartwheels without a care or a single frown

Happy go lucky kids without a care in the world

Happiness and fun is the order of the word

At the end of school they head off home,in a round about way

Heading towards the river, they mess around in the straw and hay

They nestle on a haystack, looking all around

And take in the beautiful countryside and the rivers relaxing sound

Gulping in the freshness,of the air they breath

And hoping that these happy days don't ever, ever leave

Each chewing on a single straw, they chat about their day and their time at large

The boys cheer and shout with big hoorays when Francis spots a barge

Painted in bright and vivid colour, the barge gently sails it's way past

The boys run up the bank to try to keep up,but the barge is a tad too fast

They watch and wave as the barge goes past as they get their breath back

They head back home and find the road at the end of the dusty track

Harry and Morris say,see you tomorrow,as they head off home

Francis says, great stuff, what time,Morris replies,Harry'll call you on his new phone

When Francis gets home,he greets his mummy with a kiss and cuddle

And after tea, with mummy and daddy, they watch the telly and huddle

Its not too long before Francis is yawning and his eyes are closing too

Then it's off to bed and dream of tomorrow, and all the things they can do
