The Fray

The Fray

Rucksack on his back and a pen in his hand.
Writing a note to try make her understand.
Heart weighing heavy, he would soon take his leave.
His long train ride home, would give him time to grieve.
He'd only just met her, but now it was goodbye.
Choking back tears, he refused to cry.
He left her the letter, and went on his way.
Back to the station, and into the fray.
He vowed to not give his heart again.
It caused too much hurt, and too much pain.
The train left the station, taking him away.
Back to his lonely life, and into the fray.
