Poem -

Freedom

Darling dry your eyes,

get back up and don't walk away from this fight,

you made me a fighter,

taught me to last longer,

your words can no longer stick to me,

because I have broken away from you completely,

go ahead and stay bitter,

but I deserve better,

Go ahead and last out at me,

Tell me how those venomous words taste rolling off your tongue so viciously,

Now don't you tell me I'm the reason,

because you're the one that left me bleeding,

there is only so much pain I can take,

and there is only so many times my heart can break,

don't tell me I'm weak and can't take the truth,

because I've made it through living with you,

you're words are thorns against my skin,

but I've grown strong and won't let them in,

don't you try to put on an innocent little show,

because you're bitter and we both know,

that I'm in the right and you're in the wrong,

but if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have grown so strong,

I will dry my eyes and not walk away from this fight,

because it's only when it's dark that you see the light,

I let your venomous words roll off me and bite my tongue,

it's better I Learn to stay quiet while I'm young,

you can try to deny the hurt you have done,

but there is only so long you can run,

one day I will be set free,

and God will smile down on me

no more darkness and no more pain, god will take it all away.

thats what I got from this poem. its true that broken hearts grow stronger, but broken minds get weaker. thats the true meaning of this poem.

Julia,

I came looking for you (saw your name on my followers list)- and you're worth the search! This poem is brilliant because even though it celebrates your freedom from a failed relationship, you also recognize how your struggle made you stronger. I love it when a woman roars. God bless you.
