The Trap Vanity

The Trap Vanity

Painted lips; pinned up hair,

she looks in the mirror trying not to care,

her eyes wrestle with her brain.

wondering how beauty may be obtained,

they say beauty comes from within,

but a man's sight will always win,

her soul pounds her body attempting to show her self-worth,

for a body was simply a gift for the soul at birth,

when will society stop ruling our exterior,

it's our compliance that makes them superior,

ripe apples become rotten with the trap of vanity,

the twists of our social standards are plain to me,

shut your eyes; block out the sound

know your beauty and stand your ground
