Freedom

A moments intermission! 
I plead with my mind 
As the soft footsteps of fear 
Creep towards me 

A moments peace! 
I plead with my heart
Whose direction is ever changing
Like the winds over the sea 

A moments clarity! 
I plead with my mind
When sleep does not bring
The peace I so need

A moment. 
Just a moment! 
But my pleading means nothing 
​​​​​​It seems I shall never be

Free of torment.
