Freedom Of Speech? ( In Solidarity With Julian Assange)

Inspired by a recent concert of resistance by Roger Waters ( see image)

Freedom Of Speech? ( In Solidarity With Julian Assange)

Why isn't the whole of Fleet Street out in force
To protest the prolonged detention of one
Of their own, a real rebel with a great cause:
Julian Assange? Surely it falls upon
Journalists to protect freedom of speech?!
After all, that is what they constantly preach.
They cannot see the wood for the trifling trees,
Or perhaps they can, but do prefer, it seems,
To look the other way. In newsprint, they freeze
The flow of Truth, and filter out noble dreams.

Thanks Marion. I posted the link to this poem on Facebook and it's proving to be quite popular among fellow supporters of Assange, who alas, are few and far between.
