Freudian Slipping

Freudian Slipping

I find that writing poetry, is a panacea for my troubled mind;
On a couch being psychoanalyzed, you never me will find!
For I’d rather discuss my Freudian Slips, with readers around the world;
To write words from deep within me, and my soul to “them” unfurl!

.
No “Pseudo Psycho Sigmund”, will pass judgement on my brain;
And in their little spiral notebooks, write down that I’m “insane”!
If I talk with a savvy Jungfrau, she’ll be beautiful and young;
Not some bearded stoic version, of their hero Carl Jung!

.
I guess by now you’ve realized, that I think Shrinks are all nuts too;
Save your hard earned money, for they’ll tell you what you already knew!
So let your fingers do the walking, and your pen to keep you whole;
Don’t let Doctors say you’re crazy, when the world does you extol!

.
Inspired by the great “Ogden Nash”, whose wry sense of humor influenced me when I was a young man.

Hi  Larry HAHA I love this I  agree writing poetry can be very

cathartic and healing for a mind that is in turmoil or in grief

I always say i was saved coming to Cosmo after my mam passed away

Being able to write down how you feel is like releasing all your emotions

Who needs  the likes of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung hey:-)

Great write!

Love n hugs Debs xox

My Dear Debs,

It is so wonderful to find a venue for letting out one's passions, whether they be in happiness or sadness.  The pen is mightier than the couch.  As you say, who needs Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, when you have "Dr. Cosmo"?  Thank you for your beautiful insights.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

My Dear Sweet Rose,

Yes Sweet Rose, the pen can help heal all.   But we can also write when we are feeling high, and pass happiness into the world.

Love you,

This is hilarious Larry. One of the most sarcastic quotes about shrinks comes from Carl Jung himself. He said, "Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you.”The best advice I ever got was incidentally while I was waiting in a shrink's office a long time ago. The guy sitting next to me said, "Don't trust an asshole who says he understands if he has not been what you've been through."

Art in any form whether imbibing it or creating is definitely the best form of therapy.

My Dear Friend Lost,

The quote you have just sent me, by Carl Jung, is more hilarious than my poem, because it sums up in one sentence, every point I was trying to make.  Then your real life experience is off the wall too. We, the artists of the world, need no more to keep us sane that the passions in our souls.  Thank you for fine tuning my write.

Peace and Love,

Hi Larry,  Well that was an Awesome, Short to the point, rhythmic explanation of what Poets do!
Very impressive articulation indeed! It is my wish more people would discover the release of emotions when one shares their thoughts on line.

For the cost of an internet provider,...We literally have the Worlds collected knowledge at our finger tips.
As for the "How does that make you feel" and "I would like you to try this wonder drug" conversations That that the Psycho babbling Shrinks use to maintain their expensive lifestyles. Makes me wonder,...why pay a cent more?

Sincerely
Your fan and follower,
Quixotic.

My Dear Friend Quixotic,

WOW!  You hit the nail right on the head!  We need to inspire more people to pick up their pens, instead of laying down on couches.  I love your line "We literally have the Worlds collected knowledge at our fingertips."  So true my friend, and we are the lucky ones and take advantage of it. We need to convince the people that the truth lays within themselves, and not some Pseudo Psycho Shrink.  Maybe then, they will have to trade in their Rolls Royces, and drive Fords.  Thank you for your brilliant comment.

Peace and Love,

Dear Brother Poet LARRY !!......I am quite sure Ogden Nash Would be proud!!....,, the early American master of light verse definitely left his mark on me as well ~ "Candy,is dandy, but liquor, is quicker!"...... Love his stuff..... and like your poem here, he was always mocking the establishment!!......I have been dealing with doctors for years now, so thanks for that!!......I agree with you my friend...... writing can be a true panacea!!....... and reading you can be such a wonderful escape!!....... high fives!!....... LOVE and ROCKETS!!......T xo ?✳✴☀♥

My Dear Brother Tony,

I might have guessed that Ogden Nash had an influence on you too.  "The candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker", is probably his most famous line.  The only time I had a problem, writing words that were  "a wonderful escape", was when some convicts read them, and used them to break out of prison. (Sorry, couldn't resist the humor.  Would Ogden Nash still be proud of me?)

Peace, Love and Rockets,

Cool poem.  Maybe, one of the reasons Sigmund Freud had some of his theories was:
Sigmund Freud
Father of psychoanalysis employed
Experimented with cocaine, hoping for fame
Instead got congested nose and chest pain

This is true clerihew

Hi Shirley,

It's so nice to meet you.  I love, love, love your poetic response, because now that we've met, and I'm going to look over some of your poems, you will find that I, too, almost always respond with a poem.  I am sure that we are going to have a lot of fun con"verse"ing back and forth.

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

P.S.  You just taught me about a whole genre of poetry that I did not know existed, "clerihews"

Lol very clever and funny, I guess Sigmund is analyzing us from where ever he is. I don't think his response would warm our hearts.  I have to save your poem comment, too funny.

I think you will be quite surprised if you check out the poem I just posted, called "I Just Met A Clerihew".
