Poem -
From The Bottom Of My Empty Stomach
Each growl is a reminder of the state
That the economy is in lately
The rent and bills suck up most of the budget
Leaving very little change for food
As I sit on my couch imagining a bowl of ramen with bok choy
I shudder at the prospect of going hungry another day
As my hands shake from a lack of fuel
On TV, those with privilege lecture us to cut back
Yet gorge themselves on overpriced wine and beef
I’m sure that my stomach can survive on virtue signalling
Hunger solved, amen to the rich and elite,
As I search my couch for loose change
Praying that I have three dollars
To rid me of this stomach pain.

We can't try and understand...

I'm lucky I don't have debt or anything so I'm okay. But there are so many people struggling right now. Honestly, if people want to get through this they need at least 1K savings/ 6 months worth of expenses, some silver/ gold, and to learn basic prepper skills. Until people realize that they deserve better than being impoverished by bad choices, then it will only get worse.

It's tricky, I think that people are apathetic to things that they feel are impossible to change. But working and not being able to afford food is an insane thing to just put up with and it is happening too often.

It’s truly 1984. The Dems are saying to save Democracy you must destroy it.
Been voting Republican since 1980. Regan conversion. Mainly due to fiscal discipline which Dems didn’t have.
Now if you vote Republican you’re a “semi fascist”. What happened to the political center? It the past most Americans were either center right or center left. These people could talk to each other. Now……
It's all crazy nowadays. I don't vote, and I won't until there is someone who puts democracy, morals, and lawfulness first.
The good news. I feel the pendulum is beginning to swing back.

I hope that figure is way off for them...

It is crazy how much money is wasted. The social security administrations budget came to 14.8 billion in 2023 whilst the defence budget was 813.3 billion which shows where the priorities are. $24,000 income is way below the amount you need nowadays. It's getting to the point where you need 80K+ just to have the same quality of life as your predecessors. The median income in Illinois came to $78,433. Thankfully the other figure is incorrect but still wages don't exceed costs.
They obviously really want us to buy what they're selling...
Did they leave you money for that?

It is ridiculous,
The problem is that not enough of them work regular jobs before being mayors, governors etc. Also the lack of economic literacy is scary.

What I mean is that some have never worked in a factory, or in sanitation or retail, they don't know how gruelling those jobs can be. Some have been lawyers, others have been bar staff but most have only had political careers hence the out of touch thing. People fall for the sparkle not the substance most of the time.
