Poem -

George Floyd

George Floyd

I know you
had demons

you were
struggling with

I saw your interactions,
it was obvious
that they were
there

You were a
convict
and you
did your time

ButĀ

More importantly
you were human

As a FormerĀ
Law enforcement Officer
I would not have
placed my knee
on the neck
of a dog
much less
a person

The visuals
in my head
of this event

requires reformation
it demands change

Yet it does not decrease
my respectĀ  for the menĀ
and women in blue.Ā

Anger should be directed
towards the lack of education
and psychological evaluations
that are given to officers.

The age requirements
of officers
should be raised
a four year degree
should be aĀ minimum
and the
advanced skill levels
in interpersonal skillsĀ
should be a must

Rest In Peace
George Floyd
there was no
justification
in what was done

the fact this officer
was on the force
as long as he wasĀ
or even hired in theĀ
first place
tells us that thingsĀ
must change
