The Girl On The Corner

We see her on the corner,
Just standing there.
The look on her face,
To hard to bare.
How did she end up this way?
How was she lead astray?
Giving her body to anyone who pays....
Just trying to earn a descent wage...
Treated like a piece of meat,
Her body there for anyone to beat..
As she looks back on her life and the way things used to be...
She didn't think she would be earning 10 quid down a cold dark alley...
She dreamt of weddings and children,
When she was a young girl.
Until she met the wrong people,
And her life was in a whirl..
The sadness in her eyes,
So hard to take.
Her heart disconnected,
To damaged to break.
As she collects her money,
And wanders though the night.
She finds her nemesis,
Spends her wages,
To give her world some light.
If only for a hour,
It helps her forget,
The cheerless, dejected life of this sad brunette.

Claire,
Wow i truly loved the thought placed in and the feelings eminating, from this"Powerful" poem...So sad, of a true story for many, who walk the walk, of a girl lost to the streets..A touching piece of emotional, yet very sadly, true art, have you touched upon, from your emotional pen...You truly gave this poem life, through your very emotional and descriptive, delivery...Love this poem and the attention you have placed, to the corner, of this so sad affair...Job Very well done..
