Girlfriend I love you

My girlfriend wants to know
How much I really love her
and she wants me to explain it to her
With words simple and romantically

I try to dodge the question many times
Saying to her "your hair looks so beautiful today
But she's not buying any of my excuses
she swells up her face right away

So I ask my nephew Junior on Facebook 
because Junior is a real romantic dude
They say that he is a ladies man in Trinidad,
and he knows how to talk to them real smooth

Junior said to me “man don’t worry man uncle
You know I got this cover 
In Trinidad, everyone does call me
“The girls them sugar.”

So he gives me a list of things to say 
And I write it down on a small piece paper
and Tomorrow when I see my girlfriend
It only loves talks one after the other

Next day I when to see my girlfriend
And I carry her a bunch of flowers
then I take out the list junior gives me
And get ready to give her love words for hours

“Girlfriend I love you
Like a face likes to wear makeup
Girlfriend, I love you
Like a monkey love to swing on the tree top

Girlfriend I love you
Like a hamburger bun loves a piece beef
and Girlfriend I love you
Like police love to chase a thief

Well I must admit I was a little frightened at first
Because she was mad at me before
But when she heard the first set of love lines
She Said "don't stop darling tell me more

So I tell her to wait for one-minute sweetheart
And I read my nephew junior list again
Then I come back and hold her hands 
with some new love lines to begin

Like a tailor love to sew a pants

Like a lottery ticket love to take a chance

Like a mosquito likes to bite

Like an owl loves the night

Like a woman loves a dress

Like a Trinidadian love to make commess

Now I think I have her feeling happy again
and she loved me again for sure
until she said “keep on talking sweetheart
But I did not write down any more

A woman does show lots of love
But she could change her mood real quick
One minute she’s a sweet sugar cake
The next she’s like a hot pepper on a stick

So I have to be careful now 
because I don’t know what I’m going to say
So I started to make up words in my mind
And begin to tell it to her right away

Like toothpaste loves a toothbrush
And girlfriend I really love you
Like a toilet love to flush

Well who tell me to say that
She gets mad and tells me to leave and go
So I tell her girlfriend I love you
But she still kicks me out the door

I kneel in front of her 
with a red rose in my mouth
and girlfriend I love you 
but the girl still kick me out 

Well to make a long story short
We break up that same evening
And the next girl that I meet
I won’t ask Junior for his advice again
