Glorious Feathers: A Tribute To A Teacher

I read about the Maharishi, and American Indian Tribes
I read of the "resistance", the French so well disguised
I read the words of the Dalai Lama, and all that they implied
And all these things collided, somewhere inside, of you
A pillar of community, and selfless, enduring pride
I feel so blessed to have had you as my teacher
I am still blessed to be able to recall your words
"To read, is to write, to have written."
Such creative passion, that you stirred in each of us
Each day in front of the classroom, without fail
You had us read and then explain each fairy tale
Saying, "Just seven pages each day", and we agreed
Not knowing that so many books could be learned that way
And although you tricked us, into learning to love to read
It's all because of you, that I've approached my life this way
To take each thing slowly, to really let things in
Like the Glorious Feathers of "Longfellow"
Slowly wafting downward
You taught us to ride the wind.....

Dearest Tony I love this so much! I had two brothers I was reunited with and they had a teacher that was so wonderfully  influential in both their lives. You brought this love for how this teacher transformed your love of literature and understanding literary works and becoming an excellent wrter inspired and gifted yourself. I celebrate all you are and your integrity of heart and honoring a beloved teacher in such a perfect expression of gratitude. How much like you and your form and creative flow. I especially loved the ending

Like the glorious feathers of "Longfellow"

            Slowly wafting down

You taught us to ride the wind......
