Gold vs Steel
A comfortable crucible sits around gold
A metal welded with care
Steel fits a burning, angry furnace’s hold
A metal hammered to tear
Gold is malleable with a pleasant feel
Pretty to the eye’s vain view
But what is so unbendable as tough steel?
Harshly nurtured metal grew
Pricked and prodded to perfection will be gold
Pursued by the world’s finest
Steel slowly develops to be hard and cold
Bludgeoned for days, denied rest
Gold charms the world and adorns the royal seal
Grips fine gems in its coils
But integral to buildings is none but steel
Undying effort toils
What can be accomplished by glamorous gold
Wrapped around rich men's fingers
Steel blades that plow the fields are scarcely extolled
Careless are praises’ singers
Gold has mastered how to look, shine, and appeal
Content in ignorant bliss
No metal has worked to the extent of steel
Most are unaware of this
How long will it be till we can be so bold
To recognize what is real; to appreciate the steel
