Poem -

Goodbye Prudence

goodbye prudence.

goodbye inertia.

goodbye humanity.

gone forever are the days

that are as longĀ

and as peaceful

as a soulful southern sunset

dipping behind the house

as softly as leaves fall from a tree.

life is all but a prick from a cactus

which is pleasant--

aesthetically of course--

in which the sharp green of the rounded bulb

lies in wait below the luscious fuchsia foliage

waiting for some to appreciate its delight

a little too eagerly.

so goodbye prudence

a halo upon the dirt--

goodbye innocence

already someone's gotten hurt--

goodbye peace--

there's no more room for you

in this heated summer midnight.
