Grandma's Hugs

Grandma's Hugs

When she wrapped her arms around me
I could feel her warm embrace
She was my anchor, she was my saving grace
Her head on my shoulder
Lifted the weight off like a bolder
Oh, I just loved her hugs
They were always so caring, never smug
They were enchanting, my need for them became selfish
Grandma’s hugs were my favorite thing
Because of the love that they would bring
Her arms fit around me, like a finger to a ring
Her hugs were always cozy and warm
They protected me from my inner storms
Her arms were fragile and slinky
They were brittle and wrinkly
But her hugs were always welcomed
They even sometimes hid me from the burning sun
I wish I could hug her one more time
But I’ll replay the memories in my head
Because the memories are mine and they can never be undone
She may be gone, but she’ll always be my number one
