Grave Labors

Grave Labors

In the shade
fading shadowsΒ
of age
tombstone sunlight elclipse,
stale fragrance mingles
fresh flower smell
stuck statuesque figure
dwells, as winter fell.
Annual tearsΒ
bleed into green
golden brown leaves trees clear
life seen,Β
how much it means.
Under blue
the black and gray....
the ends of earth
flow rich with dirt,
sovereign prayers
for death deaf ears
forever cannot be measured in years,
forever, neverΒ
measured in years.
Lively traffic
tramples silent grounds overheadΒ
familiar ones wipe at staging stone,
in time those wordsΒ
non-existant alone....
left unread.
