GRAVES -DRUNK WOMEN-AND THE DOGS SINGING JOHNNY CASH

Digging my own grave
how deep through the past to be saved
shadows falling like rain
covering my blame again

Digging my own grave
swallowing every pill I was ever given
like the truth they lie
between the scented thigh
will I ever die

Digging my own grave
a savior nailed my fate
listen to them wail
all gone before the bottle
was even empty

Digging my own grave
quiet by a fence of fields
beneath a breaking stone cloud
next to the alter
next to the shrine
next in line

Digging my own grave
reading epitaphs raged
in crawled out marble
and bent over the spine
wooden shafts of created light
spin over my fading sight

Digging my own grave
my dogs playing
a johnny cash song
my women are crying, drunk again
the candle we smothered
is a flame burning stain

oh the wild laughter

in capture

DIGGING
MY GRAVE
AGAIN
