GROUNDED

Our engagement was three months ago 
The weather was tropical hot
While in America it was freezing cold 
With a forecast for blizzard like snow 

The gathering was small
In casual dress wear 
For it was very important 
That there were witnesses 
To our one year online love affair 

Even though we video chat night after night 
And shared our hearts desires unselfishly 
Meeting you for the first time 
Was like a dream come through 
Heavenly and extraordinary 

It was like looking into a crystal ball 
And having all of my dreams come through 
For my soul was anchored and my heart engulfed
The moment I embraced you

Preparations were made for my speedy return 
To hold you if only for a day or two 
Then an unexpected epidemic Covid 19 by name
Caused all flights to be grounded 
Trying to quarantine my love from you

And so I wait and pray for that special day 
Hoping the skies would call our to me
For my bags are packed and my ticket is paid 
But I must love you from a distance 
Because of Covid 19.
