Happy birthday

Happy birthday

Happy birthday my little prince, Leo.
I wonder how you’re doing up there?
I used to think that this was so unfair.
This hasn’t been the easiest day.
But now, I know you’re in such good hands.
I wish I could hold you in my arms.
But I told God to give you a huge hug.

If you were here,
I would waken you up.
Sing you your happy birthday song as I enter your room, before you even had time to open your eyes.
I would hold a muffin or a slice of cake.
With the number 7,
but not today - cause you’re in heaven.
I would sit in your bed,
while you would open your gift.
And your youngest siblings would probably kick.
Kick you In the side,
to make you give them some room.
So they could come under your duvet and cuddle you.

It has been hard each passing year,
to be reminded of your birthday while you’ve been up there.
But this year is different,
I chose to celebrate you instead of grieve.
Cause I know a heavenly birthday is better than any celebration down here.
I will choose to smile,
instead of cry.
I will choose to laugh,
cause I know you’re alright.
I will choose to be happy on your day,
instead of sad.
Cause after all this is the day that you were born,
I will choose not to be torn.
I have accepted that you’re not present,
but I will continue to send you your present.
As I do each and every year,
to be reminded that you’re still here.
You’re in my heart and will also be.
My son - I’m so lucky.
I hope you catch the balloon I send,
up in the sky.
I hope you read what I’ve written,
and that you know that you are always mine.

Being Me

Oh my! Heartbreaking. I am so very sorry for your loss. I think you are celebrating (wrong word, but you know what I mean) his heavenly birthday in the right way ... and you are very brave in doing so. His little life really should be celebrated. Happy heavenly birthday, Leo. Thankyou for posting this heartfelt poem  xx
