Happy Birthday Dear Aunt Ruth
As coincidence would have it, I have an Aunt Ruthie too;
And today she turns eighty-seven, so a poem I’d like to do!
She’s the last of her generation, our only Matriarch;
She tells stories of our history, when from Europe, we embarked!
.
She was married to Uncle Miltie, not the one named Berle;
In this photo she was seventeen, quite a well-endowed young girl!
My Uncle had no guns on him, but oft had two bullets in his hands;
He fell in love the day they met, her wish was her command!
.
Uncle Miltie passed six years ago, cooked them dinner, then went to sleep;
Aunt Ruthie closed his gentle eyes, prayed the Lord his Soul to keep!
I don’t know how she went on then, but her constitution is very strong;
For if my Linda had to sail away, I would not be here too long!
.
Then four years ago she met Stanley, a man real fit and lean;
They have dates five nights a week now, and he treats her like a Queen!
I only hope when we are her age, we are as nimble and as young;
So Aunt Ruth, on your special day, thank you for the happiness you have brung!
.
.
The last one standing
My dear Aunt Ruth spreads her love
And nurtures our Souls
