HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DAD

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DAD

Just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday dad
this year would be your, seventy fourth
And twenty one years since that fateful day
the illness you had, took you from this earth

But to me that seems like yesterday as your
never more than a thought away in mind
Because to me you were the greatest father
by far, a daughter could ever find

I know your up in heaven and i wonder
if you have earned yet, your angel wings
Because knowing you as i do you`d be
helping others with all sorts, of heavenly things

So just take some time out dear dad
and enjoy this your special day
And i will think about all the memories
I have. before you had to go away

Daddy your every star i see in the night sky
your every moonbeam that shines so bright
and i will love you all of my life, until my end comes
when father and daughter, will forevermore, reunite

Happy Birthday dad Brian Thomas John 31/8/1942 x

Hey DEBS!!..... almost missed this one........ just wanted to say what a blessing it is to be a poet when days like these pop up throughout your year........ and even though this is probably one of the worst of them.... it is (at least for me) such a comfort knowing that expressing that pain is not going to be a hurdle difficult to overcome........ powerful tribute......... hugs-n-smiles........T xo

had a quiet day thinking about good times spent with my dad

This is such a lovely tribute to your dad Debs and I`m sure he`s very proud of you and is bragging about you up there as you write. I miss my dad too, I lost him two years before Andrew died and we were very close, proper little daddies girl, he was my ultimate hero as I`m sure your dad is to you. I feel your pain through these beautiful words and that is what poetry is for, it releases all that pain and brings beauty and comfort into our lives instead. Well done for this beautiful piece sweetie I`m proud of you.

Love G xx

Hi Debs, so sorry I missed this. It's never too late though. A belated happy birthday to your dad in heaven. I understand how it feels to lose a dad you love so much 'cos I lost mine too sixteen years ago and it's still very difficult without him. Thanks for sharing

Lots of love.....Rose
