Happy New Year

to the tune of Auld Lang Syne

Happy New Year

Toxic acquaintance be forgot
old habits go to die
as I reflect on what I lost
it's time to claim what's mine

Though I recoil on errors past
and wounds start to heal
I shake off the dust of life
and start to see what's real

For I was looking at the ground
but now the stars do call
though my pride has been bruised
I've learnt from the fall

For old resolve comes to the fore
the kind that never dies
for though we face adversity
this year it's time to rise.

Happy New Year to you!
Wonderful poem.

Favorite line:

this year it's time to rise.

The poem was easy to read, had a punch of rhyme and a good over all message about the approaching new year ahead. Thank you for sharing your poem. I cannot wait to read more.
