Poem -

Hardened heart

hardened and callousΒ from the pain endured before

eyes drowned in tears that never cease to pour

gushing like a river down a mountain sideΒ

all of it caused just because you lied

each time I forgave you, you seemed to do it moreΒ

you left me heart in pieces

smeared across the bedroom floor

on that day you left me when you walked out of that door

And nowΒ my heart won't ever beat the way it did before

Do you read a lot of Roger McGough? I'm not asking that because you're from Liverpool...but there's the faintest echo of his essence in your work. Or maybe it's because the accent shines through the phrasing ... I'm not sure, yet.

Whatever it is...it's a joy to read.
