Harley's Saloon

Harley's Saloon

Back in the day of the old wild west, being a cowboy wasn't easy

First ya had to have a horse, saddle, boots, a hat, a gun, and money

Wouldn't hurt if you had a honey, ya might have to pay for that dance

Gold Rush times, made a big hit, we'd dig and dig, and pan for a chance

A few gold nuggets, and ya could get some good grub, some feed for your horse

Fit in a boot shine, maybe even some moonshine, a good poker game at the local saloon, "Harley's" of course

A smoke with the boys after a long day's work, nothin like a hot tub bath later

Some fella's got mad if ya made out too good, then sooner or later you'd have the last straw

Find a time to have a brawl, then the big bad gun fight, walking tall until the last draw

Once the worst was over, you could smell the clover, time to get back in the saddle, buy up some cattle

Nothin better than raisin your own herd, makin some profit was most ot the battle

One more thing a cowboy would need, drive em in, corral em for the sale to the highest bid Texas Ranger

Who'd of  known ya might just fall in love, that dance you'd never forget, might even get hitched, after I hit it rich

Buy up some land, build me a nice little ranch, grow crops by the acre, boy! she was a taker

Now, Pearl and I, ya know, the singer, dancer, are livin high on the hog, in southern West Virginia, five youngen's and a Blue Tick Hound, named "Gader"

The old west treated us best, some of the rest didn't make ur, and some died tryin, left no one around

I still remember the day, the cowboy was a strugglin, thank God for the Gold Rush, and that Texas Ranger, he'll never be a stranger

Those good times in Harley's Saloon, where I met my honey, my sweety Pearl, my bride

I'll never forget the day, I walked into that room, when the saloon doors would swing

I'd hear her pretty little voice, my Pearl sure could sing, now she's all mine, she's my everything, and she's no longer in danger

This old cowboy has one last thing to say, "Thank God for that Gold Rush, Harley's Saloon, and one more thing,  that Millionaire "Texas Ranger"

Thanks, it was really difficult to write without using the slang, I'm better at that in acting, then in writing
