Harworth and Bircotes Industrial Past
It won't be long before there's not a trace,of our industrial past
The great pit tower that stood so proud and the failed demolition blast
The glass bulb factory that distributed quality, all, over the world
The shoe factory that gave employment,to the school leaving boys and girls
All these places you will never hear of and will never see again
To the young kids of our thriving town, the past will be hard to explain
It would be nice that maybe somewhere,a museum could possibly go
To put together old machines and pictures,or our kids will never know
I just hope that our ancestors efforts, will never be forgotten
To be blown away, like autumn leaves,to decay and go rotten
The old junior school, where most of us went,is in the middle of our little hub
To transform it now before it falls down, may only cost a few bob
A great place it could be,with its off road parking, where us kids used to play
To educate our kids with industrial heritage, they can visit, any day
I'm so proud of the part my ancestors played,in our industrial past
Something needs to be done,in our small town,so our history will always last

I needed to write a poem to celebrate the place where I live and to mention the changing times and local industries that have become distant memories
