HAUNTED BY SHADOWS OF YESTERDAY'S PAIN

Fallen angels are ghosts in the shadows- be afraid-

Not of them- but of your mind by way of your heart

It was over- but dried tears don't forget-

How he hurt you- revenge on his brothers- they will come

Love isn't forever- more like stolen moments

Nobody warned me- kiss of the spider-woman

Invited to her web- only to be a victim-

Haunted by shadows of yesterday's pain

None of us want to be alone- yeah, I said it

Ignorance is bliss- until the freedom of truth

Children rebel against mama's wisdom

Papa's outside in the dark- he could tell you

Ghost stories meant to bring runaways home

Try anything once- twice bitten- want more

Candlelight sex and the promise of strangers-

Haunted by shadows of yesterday's pain

Boys and girls in schoolyards divided

Thrill of the chase- but who cares for the babies?

Love greater than myself- what it means to be human

All read the book of life- few are on the same page

Who writes the future and the curriculum of teachers?

Women want men to share all their secrets

Men want women to forgive and forget-

Haunted by shadows of yesterday's pain

Old women to grandchildren- outside of the church:

"If you believe in love- must be ready to work"

Must you all be given to temptation?

Think he would build it and share power with you?

Build it together and make yourself queen

If one of you falls- help the other to rise

How can you sleep in the same bed- and not love?

Haunted by shadows of yesterday's pain

Whats up J.W.!!

Yesterday, full of pain in deed, just as this day, was given to amend all breaks and bends, which will be accepted, the yesterdays of our past or our today's,which was lent from heaven above, to us all ,to start a new  and build that new, by two, for two......A very surreal poem and truth does lie in the pudding and this poem exuberates, a whole lot of pudding.....Powerful poem delivered by the hand of the poet, to his hungry readers...

Take Care,

Jim

Thank you Jim,

I've been reading your comments to mine and other poets and your insight goes beneath the surface. I'm a serious scholar- but not a student of poetry. I know what elements it must contain- and the work of previous generations hold some gems. Yet, the "better angels" of our nature are usually overshadowed by our personal demons. You are the only person (so far) commenting on my work- but your feedback is enough to keep me coming back. Thank you.

Whats up J.W.?

i appreciate the shout out and even if it was just one person, viewing your work, that's still considered an audience, but believe you me once they have had tasted a bit of your knowledge, in and from your poems, it will be just like the skittles commercial," taste the rainbow," every body is gonna want some. I know for a fact Shirley will delve into the funnel and see what you are working with, she is that type of wonderful person and she is true at heart, as to Shah and many more dedicated poets.Keep doing your thing...Serious scholar, I feel this in your poems...Treasures from your chest allow it to open, we would like to read many more....

Take care,

Jimmy
