Haversham

Haversham

A single rose in amongst vast thorned foliage.

I don't know how I came to be.. how did I grow?
How did I flourish in the dirt, unnourished?
How did I feel the sun against me, when I was hidden under shadows?
How did I not wilt away with nothing to quench my thirst?
How did I muster up the strength to open myself up?My silken petals.

So humble I stood, so aware of my struggle to survive.
I was, I am.
I will be.
Destined to be alone;
drowned and beaten by storm again and again.

Being Me

I love the title, it is perfect for this poem. I am thinking we are all Rose's...some of us lucky enough to grow in nourished soil and sunshine some of us fight for survival in the shadows and dirt...all of us among thorns x

Hi Punzy, hope you are well. I enjoyed reading this beautiful poem, wildflowers that I come across whilst in the mountains came to mind. Little torrents of life that thrive amongst the broken rocks and barren ground and in the tempest of terrifying storms their fragile beauty never wavers. They bloom as wild and free as the wind and oceans, dramatic I know but scenarios played out on many stages, not only in a mountain setting. A delightful start to the day, having read this. Thank you!

Good morning fellow flower lover! Flowers are sunshine, smiles and hope, so I´ll be having a skim across your page to see what wildflowers spring from your heart and mind in poetic art. Thank you for considering reading my poems, enjoy your morning coffee and wildflowers and wings to you for the coming week! :)
