Poem -

Hazel

Oh darling

Oh dear

The way your eyes shine-

Hazel-

like when afternoon sunlight

streams through a broken stained glass window-

of a once beloved abandoned church.

And the freckles that dot your nose

the bump from it being broken-

like the crook of a constellation

connecting the freckles to create

universes under your eyes.

And that soft smile

which you so mockingly developed after mine

which i think is divine.

Oh darling

Oh dear

Woe is me

That you seem not to notice

Not to care

But oh do I

So smart and wise

but even I managed to fall

back in love with your eyes.

So I love the way they change

from meadow to whiskey to starlight

and I regret

never having the courage to tell you

How they always lead me back home

lead me back to you.
