He Wasn't Himself

Baby, I'm sorry that I blackened your eye,

I wasn't myself, you know, I must have been high.

And I'm so sorry that I broke your arm,

You know I never meant to do you no harm,

"I'll never hurt you" , that's what he said,

The very next day he threw a lamp at my head.

I really should leave but there's this other guy,

who lives in his head when he's not drunk or high,

This guy acts so gentle when he doctors my cuts,

And I'll tell you I'm sane when the truth is I'm nuts!!
