Heartbreak

The day was young without sadness
All the tears had all been shed
The words had all been said
And I was so weary
Reflection can be costly
Going down memory lane
Reliving all the painĀ
Sighing deep wounded breaths
Gazing forward with all my might
Love shouldn't bring such agony
But a true heart broken doesn't mend
It just gets a patch and keeps on
Until the day it gets stripped away
And you lie bleeding in the moment
Stop it !Ā Ā
Please, stop it!
As your life feels like it's ebbing
But, death doesn't happen
Not the body anyway
I am amazed at how much we can take
Healing happens I pray it does
So I can get on my way

"It just gets a patch and keeps on" is a great line. One that for me is the heart, sorry, of your poem. Because all the words prior to, and following, that line are indicative of that. Some good rhymes and I do like how your poem drifts in and out of rhyme schemes.Ā
