Heavens’ Kitchen

Heavens’ Kitchen

Your favorite spot you used to lay, was the kitchen on the floor;

You’d smell goodies baking in the stove, and you’d recline right by its door!

The great aromas filled the air, your taste buds they would tease;

And then, when done, we’d give you some, your appetite appeased!

Now that spot’s unoccupied, it lays lonely and so bare;

It cries out for its cooking mate, but you’re no longer there!

For now another kitchen’s yours, it’s high above the rest;

It’s up the stairs in Heavens house, and the food there is the best!

But we know sometimes you visit us, we feel you in the air;

Sometimes still as the food is cooked, we swear you’re laying there!

Just like treasured days of old, with our sous chefs’ helping hands;

Ambrosia dishes we’d create the best in all the lands!

I’m sure the angels knew your skill, and made Nico their head chef;

And their favorite food is angel cake, and there’s never any left!

Chef Ramsey would be so proud of you, his greatest protégé;

Working up in Heavens’ kitchen, and cooking every day!

Hi Tony,

Thank you so much for your very kind words.  I've been writing poetry since I was a teenager intermittently over the last 50 some years.  Tomorrow it will be exactly 1 year since the passing of my beloved Nico, the one pictured above all my poems.  He was more than a pet to me, he was my soul mate.  Not a day passes that I don't cry several times for I miss him so.  Soon after he left us, I found that writing poetry helped alleviate some of my heartache and have probably written 150-200 poems, many of which deal with the loss of a beloved pet.  I think that oft times poetry is a product of pain.  In my case that's certainly true.  In a few months after my wife and I edit the poems we will attempt to get them published.  Again, thank you so much for your kind words.  They inspire me to keep creating.

Yours Truly,

Larry Ran

Oh my darling Larry,

I love this one as it portrays a very clear picture in my mind of our little man Nico just laying there and waiting for the goodies to come out for him. What was his favourite food? My Nero will chomp on anything but although Ellwood-George is a big dog he can be a bit fussy. He has to sniff it first and then decide if he wants it where Nero just swallows anything! Thank you for letting me get another feel for what Nico was like. I love him and Cody so much.

Lots of love and hugs to you all

G xx
