Hell's Harbor

Hell's Harbor

"Hell's Harbor"

Β
I gaze across this chasm, vast
into the void beyond.
The sun sets low as night falls fastβ€”
dark demons, night has spawned.

Β
Shifting seas soon come alive,
cold creeps out harbor's way
to where I amβ€”I won’t survive
to see the light of day.
Β

Lo’, softly, whispers waft aboutβ€”
etch echoes in my mind.
The screaming I can live without
for fear of what I’ll find.

Β
This vapid void that I must cross;
my glut of dire damnation,
has sapped my strength, enhanced my loss
through constant consternation.

Β
But yonder, lights in harbor wane,
beyond this rising squall.
God help me, here I float in vain;
Β gulls seek to maim and maul.

Β
This boundless sea, has it no end?
Oars beat, to no avail.
Horizon’s lost where hell descendsβ€”
β€˜til then, I must set sail.

Most fascinating, it's very scary what we see when our minds are left to wonder. Brilliant piece Dean.
