Her

All you see is the color of my skin
I guarantee you, you don't know where I've been
I was a little girl who had to put up a fight
When her mother use to beat her out of just spite
Men would come into her room
to take her innocence way too soon
At 6 years old her best friend was killed
Turns out the gang just wanted the thrill
At 13 she thought she was free
But she realized quickly that could never be
The foster mom didn't know about her spouse
when he would tiptoe late around the house
A few months later
She learned she was getting something far greater
She got a new name
Finally the day came
When she moved in
Yet she didn't feel like kin
At Seventeen they kicked her out
Leaving her with so much doubt
Now here she is 25
Life is hard but she's starting to thrive
