Her Story Has Never Been Told
Ella Wheeler Wilcox
And so she lived and so she died,
Her story has never been told.
Until now I'll be your guide,
For one so noble and so bold.
Poor, plain and humble in her dress,
Never craved for money or success.
Never lacking poetic lines of grace,
Never wondering how to face her fate.
Her incredible life was hope and love,
She was all that was decent and good.
Blessed were the lives that she touched,
By writing poetry every minute she could.
Until one tragic day she passed away,
Cruel cancer robbed us of one of the Greats.
One day we'll meet Ella Wheeler Wilcox,
Writing beauty behind Heaven's Pearly Gates.
Poetry always misses you dear Ella,
But your great legacy still is viewed.
Reunited with your beloved husband Robert,
Enduring no more pain and solitude.
'Love lights more fires than hate extinguishes.'

Tony many thanks for your kind and generous comments and this wonderful woman and poet and humanitarian was the reason I picked up a pen when 12 years old after reading her magnificent poem called The Two Glasses.
She is an American poet almost sadly forgotten today and her most famous poem is called Solitude. Which starts off...
Laugh, and the world laughs with you,
Weep, and you weep alone.
She is my greatest friend in time.
Hope that helps and many thanks again.
Wow from me too Shaun this is beautiful ❤️💙❤️Pinned for perfection ❤️
Jill many thanks for your warmly welcomed comment and I appreciate it.
This wonderful woman and brilliant poet is my poetry rock her most famous poem is called Solitude and without her I wouldn't have written a single word she is my poetry inspiration and my greatest friend in time.
Her life story would make for a great movie she even entertained troops at the front lines during WW1 and was a dedicated animal rights campaigner.
Thanks again Jill and her poetry like yours is a godsend.❤️
Awwww ❤️💙❤️
Intriguing Shaun, I do believe I have heard of her before, but i have never heard her story. I'm dying to find out more now! Thanks for bringing this one to light. Enjoyed. Peace and smiles. Your friend Max
Max, many thanks kind sir for your superb comments and this brilliant woman and poet is and always be my driving force when writing poetry.
She was the poet of her day and time and today nearly forgotten.
She wrote a poem called Solitude and is really only remembered for that,
it's a great poem but if you have the time look up The Two Glasses (among many more) which is my all time favourite poem.
She is simply magnificent and forever my greatest friend in time.
Thanks again Max and now I'll start reading yours my friend
Jim many thanks for liking and the five stars I appreciate your good will.
"It is easy enough to be pleasant,
When life flows by like a song,
But the man worth while is one who will smile,
When everything goes dead wrong."
Ella Wheeler Wilcox
I love this quote from the lovely lady. And also: "a weed is but an unloved flower."
A truly wonderful poet! I think she would love your tribute poem. You have written a very fine poem. There are certainly more of us who are aquainted with her fantastic poetry now, thanks to you. So, from me personally, a very big thank you for introducing me to the work of Ella Wheeler Wilcox 😊 x
