Heroes unsung

For those that do it everyday. 
Unsung hero's to us all. 
In many ways. 
Have answered humanities call. 

This is for the policeman. 
Standing,sifting the rights and wrong. 
A tough job,doing what they can. 
So that each of us can carry along.  

A fireman that braves the heat of the flame. 
Standing with us in our hour of need. 
Neither has fortune or fame. 
Doing with little pay and even less greed. 

Putting their lives in harms way. 
Safety for the betterment of all. 
How many of you actually say. 
Thanks for answering my call. 

Remember the nurse on night shift. 
The one the runs every time you ask. 
Pulling and tugging helping you to lift.  
Assisting you in your simple tasks. 

Or the paramedic who pieced you up. 
Because you where speeding down the hill. 
And dropped your coffee cup.  
Accident ruled your fault,yet they help still. 

Most work a ten to twenty four. 
Do the simple math.  
These people give up their lives for sure. 
So you and I can walk a easier path. 

To the Airman,Soldier,Sailor or Marine. 
The policeman,fireman,paramedic or nurse. 
People that live nightmares most couldn't dream. 
Standing tall without haste even during our worse. 

Each have dedicated their lives. 
To the betterment of each and all.  
Leaving behind children, husbands and wives. 
Who patiently await the returning call. 

This is for those who have chosen to stand. 
When the world seems to fall. 
Thank you for the sturdy helping hand. 
Be proud that you stand tall. 

Without you. I would have to defend. 
My family and my home. 
And learn how to mend. 
My sickness and broken bones. 

Thank you all for the peace of mind. 
And the laws you uphold.  
A tough and tender kind.  
Loving and caring,with strengths yet untold.  

Each day as I go on my way. 
I can sit easy as I go. 
Knowing help is but a call away.
