High Fins

High Fins

A bunch of big fat salmon

Swimming for their lives upstream

Don't know where they're going

But sure know where they've been

The red ones are the boy fish

The pink ones are the girls

Been frolicking in the ocean

Doing their swirls and twirls

“Gotta avoid those nasty bears!”

Said Sammy, who devised a plan

“To avoid being eaten by Mr. Bear

We'll travel part way by land!”

“Ever tried to walk on your tail?”

Sammy asked one of his friends

“Yes, I've tried that once or twice

Fell down, it took days to mend”

“Well, without a choice, we gotta try”

They arrived at the dangerous spot

Sammy said bravely, “I'll go first!”

He thought his heart would stop!

It turned out to be quite easy though

And the others followed behind

They all got round that nasty old bear

And everything turned out fine!

Although they were all tired and pooped

They were happy to escape with their skins

Sammy was their new found hero

So they gave him some big “high fins”
