His best buddy, Butch

Oh how he misses his canine friend,
He strolled with him on the sands
Retrieving his rubbery, dribberly ball
& Shoving it in his hands
He remembers the morning
Butch escaped, he ran out of the garden gate
The postman returned him along with his mail
He had found him in a terrible state
Poor Butch had ran after the nextdoor cat
It had been teasing him for a while
But Misty the mischief wasn’t having that
She won the fight by a mile
Butch was scratched & allÂ
bald-patched
He ran to his open arms
Instead of scolding him
He succumbed to his slobbery charms
How on Earth could he carry on
They say time does heal the pain
His best buddy Butch has passed away
He would never see him again
Oh how sad is his master
He can only cry & cry
The hardest part about owning a pet
Is the dreaded day when you say goodbye ?
