HIS VALIANT MUSE
Words fell on deaf ears as he tried
to convince her of the truth
She did not believe him instead she shouted
profanities unutterable uncouth
No matter what he said or what he did
she remained determined and resolute
The fact of the matter made no difference
but he still admired her forthright fortitude
He had met her through a friend some years
ago and he fell in love, at first sight
She had been married and widowed and had
struggled in life he admired in her, her fight
She worked hard all day kept house and
brought two children up all alone
She was a survivor and so courageous
no better woman had he ever known
And so they had fallen in love and had
been happy as can be, until now
But she thought he was having an affair
he needed to convince her he was`nt, but how
He had`nt betrayed her there was no other woman
she had seen him with a colleague from his office
Who had been helping him with arrangements
for their wedding, a surprise for her in Venice
He had planned it all the service the trip on
the gondola, to sail under the" Bridge of Sighs"
Where romantic`s say when couples kiss beneath
it, they will find happiness all of their lives
He had to tell her the truth or he would
lose her, he needed to tell her it was all but a ruse
so he did, and she wept in his arms his wife to be
an inspiration of courage, his own valiant muse

Hi Dear Debs,
Did you kiss under the "Bridge of Sighs" and find happiness forever? Your beautiful poem has reminded me of a similar story from my past, which I'm going to post later today, and dedicate to you as a response to this lovely work.
