Hole in the Heart

A deep hole lies within Bottomless I try to fill it But the filling quickly escapes.

Sometimes as a trickle

Other times an avalanche
I am not enough

Never enough

It’s a full time task

Although done with love

Somehow it doesn’t close

Never heals over
And if I forget

And look to me instead Then the hole widens

And sucks more into it Threatening to engulf

To overpower and destroy
How does it feel

To have such a hole

Deep deep inside

I imagine it must ache

A hollow empty space

Trying to own the heart
Is it fillable at all

Or is it a forever hole

Will there be a constant search

But never finding

The right shaped plug

To allow the love to stay
