Honour the Innocence

Honour the Innocence

Our hearts weep for courageous young men
choking at final breath
in anguished fear and agony
laying on a field of death

In played naive imagination
true reality ofΒ warranted War
hid invisible to their thoughts
only a game of soldiers saw

Young blood eager for excitement
to erase an evil wrong
making family and country proud
bluff valour standing strong

In the insanity of this War
from trenches rose in battle trance
like lambs to slaughter
young mortals stood futile chance

Hundreds of thousands innocent gone
died blooded before prime time
cruel comfortless destructionΒ vital
for a future free of yours and mine

What they sacrificed in bold innocence
we'll remember and honour always
Oh valiant young souls, an unreachable 'Thankyou'
then, now, and to end of days

A Poppy to wear for our Eternal Remembrance and Gratitude

Hello Wendy...

In so many ways we have failed them...

It's very disheartening what has been able to happen...

Will we learn one day before it's too late?Β

Great write!Β

Great tribute!Β

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...
