Poem -

Hope For The Future

As I stare out the window
 At the pouring rain
I can't help but compare the rain
 To tear drops from heaven,
Shed over the lives senselessly lost
Each day due to the cruelty of man.

Innocent children, whose short lives
Are full of nightmares instead of sweet dreams,
Until their tortured souls flee
 For a much kinder place.

Husband against wife,
 Mother against child,
Brother against brother.
 Surely heaven has no choice
But to weep at the mess we have made
Of what was supposed to be a paradise.

As I stare out my window
 At the pouring rain
I see a child splashing in a puddle,
 Laughing gleefully with each step.
I look at the child
And see hope for the future.
