"How I Won"

"How I Won"

"In active addiction,
I ran and ran,
but the drugs,
kept my feet,
stuck in quicksand,
and every time,
I almost got out,
I found out,
what a new drug was about,
and every time I used,
I sank deeper and deeper,
man my best friend,
was The Grim Reaper,
and I'm sure,
him and the devil,
have a pretty large bet,
but they can keep on waiting,
because I have seven clean days,
and haven't relapsed yet.

So onward and upward,
I let my spirit fly,
to A Loving God,
I thought didn't,
and wouldn't ever care,
if I suddenly died,
but man oh man,
how I was wrong,
it seems Him and His Son,
have cared all along,
and they were the ones,
who pulled me,
from the quicksand pit,
and told me to never give up,
to never quit,
so the hope and faith,
they instilled,
has helped me to heal,
and stop wanting to be numb,
and instead learn to feel,
and yea sometimes I look back,
on the quicksand,
that I came,
from,
but I'm tired of being numb,
and that part of my life,
is over and done,
and now I seek,
to please God's Son,
and when I surrendered to Him,
well my friends,
that's how I won!"
